IFRS Facilitated by: Hentie van Wyk

Hentie was born in Bloemfontein (South Africa) in 1956. He matriculated in 1974 and after national service
he obtained the B. Com degree in 1978. He became a Chartered Accountant (SA) in 1982 after he served
his trainee period at an International Accounting firm (KPMG). He was promoted to Audit Manager at the
accounting firm and in 1984 left for the University of the Free State as a Senior Lecturer. He was promoted
to an Associate-Professor in 1988 and as Professor and Head of the Centre for Accounting in 1992. He
obtained a PhD in 2003 in Public Sector Management and is currently the programme director for
Accounting Education at the University of the Free State.

He is currently lecturing Advanced Financial Accounting to aspirant chartered Accountants on the postgraduate level. He was also involved in the MBA and MDP programs of the Business School of the Faculty of Economic and Management sciences.

He also presents update courses (Continuing Professional Education (CPD)) on a yearly basis to practicing accountants countrywide and internationally. He is a motivational speaker. He is very involved in the affairs of the accounting profession. He served as a Board member of the Free State Society of Chartered Accountants for 20 years and was President of the Society in 1994 and 2009. He is a member of the Academic Review Committee of South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.

He also served on the Board and Exco of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants for several years. He is a past President of the SA Accounting Association and the Vice-president of the International Association of Accounting Education and Research. He is also extensively involved in the community.He is an Officer in his Church, and served on the Management Body of Grey College. He loves sport and was Treasurer of Cricket South Africa from 2005 to 2010 International.

The Credit and Cheque Specialist: David Rosin

David is a Law Graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand and was responsible for introducing Veri
Cheque the first cheque verification service to operate on a national level, into South Africa during 1987,
where he was the Managing Director until 1991 when he became the Senior Executive of Market
Development for the ITC group of companies.

Amongst other things David has been:

  • Quoted on radio, in the press and appeared on radio and television
  • Published a practical guide for businesses who accept cheques and in 1996, the first cashiers’ cheque
    acceptance Kit.
  • He has also published a debtor’s security manual. In 2008 he published the first manual on Debtors and Creditors Correspondence.
  • Presented courses for the last 18 years on all legal, credit and collection subjects both nationally and internationally and is a dynamic speaker and trainer.
  • With a unique understanding of credit management in Africa and he has presented seminars in Botswana, Namibia, Swaziland, Kenya and Mauritius.
  • Written courses on credit and legal topics and has presented his programs to over 5000 delegates in the last 10 years.

David has conducted and continues to conduct, seminars for chambers of commerce various conference organizers and privately for companies, and is acknowledged countrywide as an expert in both credit and collection of debt training.

Effective Credit Management Facilitated by: Charmaine Govender

Charmaine Govender has 27 years’ experience in Credit Management. She is a qualified National Credit
Manager for the past 21 years and 6 years of a Credit Manager within The Health Care Sector,
Pharmaceuticals, Travel and Tourism. She has majored in Credit Management 1, 2 and 3. She is a qualified
Facilitator, Assessor and Moderator.

She is also an accredited FASSET (Finance SETA) Assessor and Moderator for unit standards relating to Operating Cash Management and Credit Control Systems.

Her extensive collection experience with All Government Departments including Parliament, Parastatal, Corporate and Global clients for the past 21 years has enabled her to secure training and workshops in the market place.

She also presented at the Progress for Business Women Forum in 2012 and held Workshops at some UNISA Campus.
